The three birds were visible most of the morning
and one does appear to be a male - it has different wing markings and the shield
at the front is a different shape. I have some photos of the wings of the
male but I believe others may have better ones. Attached is a photo
taken from video footage showing the different shape and colour of the
front shield. I cannot find any mention of the difference in shape in
the references I have. Could someone with access to HANZAB please check to
see if the shield shape difference is mentioned?
As well, two Glossy Ibis were in the same area.
One was inconsiderate enough to block the view of the three
Painted-snipe at one point! Two Cattle Egrets were also foraging around
the cattle.
