Robin,
If the behaviour of your Tawny Frogmouths is anything like those
I've been watching up at the Pinnacle, then the other TF is almost
certainly sitting on a nest in a nearby tree. Look around
carefully, particularly at horizontal stretches of tree limb,
possibly where a limb forks.

For those
interested, there has been a pair of Tawny Frogmouths perching
on a tree along the path to the top of Mt. Ainslie for about a
month.
This morning I spotted only one of them, so possibly they are in
the
process of moving camp. (From past experience, they are quite
habitual, both appearing and disappearing for many weeks at a
time).
If you want to check them out, take the path up from behind
the War
Memorial - about 2/3rds the way up the hill there are two tight
"U-turns" in the path, each bounded by a rock wall. Continue
about 50-75m past the upper of these bends to the galvanised iron
piping
on the LHS of the path. The tree with the frogmouth(s) is right
here on
your left, and you should easily spot the bird(s) (if TFs are ever
easy
to spot!) looking up and in the general direction of the city.
