Another easily accessible spot is the AIS car park where I’ve seen superbs almost daily (1-14 individuals)

Yesterday afternoon I had a quick look around in Hawker for Superbs. I found a large group of perhaps 20 birds in the area just to the east of Hawker College. There's a car park between the college and the playing fields. The birds were feeding on the grassy verges in the car park and along Murranji St, and also feeding in people's front gardens opposite the car park on the south side of Murranji St. Roughly equal numbers of males and females. They were quite approachable, I could get within about three metres of birds feeding in low shrubs and on the ground. One bird flew down to a small bird bath in someone's front yard.

A friend in Hawker mentioned that Superbs had often roosted in the park opposite the college, on the corner of Erldunda St.

They really are spectacular birds, and worth a quick look around in Hawker if you've not seen them before!

Cheers
Anthony
