In Turner suburb, a Magpie nest with young.
O'Connor Ridge was a wash out, though. There was some sort of
orienteering contest happening with people crashing through the bush all
around, panicked kangaroos fleeing hither and yon, and everyone trying
to avoid the mountain biker using their many, many kilometres of trails.
On the boundary there is the constant roar of the Gungahlin traffic.
There is lots of bare black ground with scattered dying trees from
various 'control' burns as well. Naturally some of the trees adjoining
the reserve have tree removal notices on them as well.
All in all, not a strong recommendation for the ACT's management of a
nature reserve.
