Similar happened on the Kambah Pool track about 4 weeks ago. At least
five trees along the start of the track have been cut down. By a combination of
either axe or chain saw. One of which was then rather carefully cut into logs
which were left on site. This included sawing right through the sign stating
"Bullen Range Nature Reserve" and the phone number and the other sign that says
I think Kambah Pool. Leaving the metal poles just holding the left and right
edges of the signs.
It
seemed odd incidence of vandalism to me.

-----Original Message----- While jogging on the Hancock Track
(from the suburb over the saddle towards Campbell park) I noticed that at least
three old trees had been felled. One of them had a sign about surveillance
and prohibiting taking the wood, so it would seem that these have been
officially felled. Does anyone know why? From: martin butterfield [ Sent: Monday, 22 August 2011 5:20 PM To: COG List Subject: [canberrabirds] Felling old trees in Mount Ainslie CNP I can rationalise felling old trees in suburban streets that might injure people but in a Nature Park? Martin |
