alerted by commotion in the shrubbery outside Turner Primary School  this morning I investigated to find a crested pigeon attacking two currawongs in a most vigorous manner. When the would be assassins desisted and decamped to low branch a fierce arial attack apparently saw them off. A closer look at the battle scene revealed another fledgeling, alive and breathing, well hidden in a mound of dry leaves. As I conclude this report the proud parent is still on guard to tell me that Spring is close at hand.
