Scarlet Robins breed in several of the Canberra Nature Parks to my
knowledge. They are very inconspicuous during the breeding season and
rarely sing when they are nesting. In contrast, they are noisy and
conspicuous in Autumn and early winter. I think that they sort out
their territorial disputes before breeding rather than during breeding.
Red-capped Robins are rather similar and where sympatric vigorously
dispute territorial rights interspecifically.
It may be that you will be fortunate enough to have Scarlet Robins for
company right through to the summer.
