In which area is your yard?  It may be coincidence but there has been a huge flock of Corellas in Queanbeyan aound the weir for the past few weeks.  Possibly they are dining on some by-product of the floods, and perhaps that is where 'your' birds went.

This evening saw a pair of correllas feeding in my yard for the first time since they 'left' for the winter, which I don't remember them doing last year. They and their friends regularly eat here during the rest of the year and I believe are part of the Tuggeranong group which arrived about 4-5 yrs ago. Also saw some King parrots fly through.
