Yesterday at Mulwaree Ponds on the Currawang Road, coots carrying nesting material.

15 kms further to the East, a pair of Australian shelducks grazing in their usual dam paddock. They have not been sighted in the district at this time before.  They usually leave early May, and return early to mid September.  Looks as if they have overwintered.  Anyone have explanations or parallels?

Thank you to all who have offered help with the magpie reference.  The overwhelming opinion appears to be positive.  Will hopefully purchase through COG.

Regards,
Jude Hopwood
