Mark – I have the old Garmin Etrex H – now about to be replaced by a new model etrex 10 but it’s been great.  Does everything I need, well regaerded, and cheap.  DOesn’t have integrated maps though, if you were keen on that.

 

People considering buying might like to wait for the new version which is out maybe in August, the eTrex 10, probably longer battery life, better ergonomics and it  comes with paperless geocaching — if you don’t know what that is then check this video…

The more expensive models (20 and 30) have colour maps which can be handy.
