Over the 29 years of the GBS there have been 215 observations of 20+ Magpie-larks (peewees, peewits, mudlarks, Murray magpies - whatever else people want to call Grallina cyanoleuca).  This is 0.3% of the total observations of the species.  There is at least 1 observation of this size in 43 weeks of the year with the greatest proportion in Autumn (and very few in late Spring/early Summer.) - see attachment.   The line in the graph is simply there to smooth out the 'noise'.

I'd also been wondering if its my memory. there are lots around
everywhere, but out in the Riverina I've been seeing big groups - near
Cocoparra a few weeks ago we saw huge group on the wires (probably a
hundred or so), then this past weekend I saw a couple of groups  of
several dozen near Leeton.
The 'birds in backyards' website says on its peewee page:
"non-breeding and young birds form large nomadic flocks, sometimes
consisting of several thousand individuals"
