On reflection, I wonder whether
this site should not be named to remember the robin discoverers. Perhaps
something like “Williams/Milburn Australian Robin Study Site”. Roger
certainly deserves recognition. This could be known by the easily-recalled
acronym “WIMARSS”. This, in turn, could be incorporated in a T-shirt, that
could be expected to be popular among our new and numerous breed of Pink Robin
photographers:
But on further reflection again
I think there may be a problem. As I recall there is a plan to glass in
the upper section of that gully to replicate Australian tropical
rainforest. It would be unfortunate if the gully became a battlefield
between robin-photographers and birdwatchers waving “Save WIMARSS” placards and
bewildered bearded rainforest enthusiasts down from FNQ to advance their lonely
cause. Let’s stay with “Robin Central” then as a temporary
label. “Off to Robin Central for a quick look for a PR” you can say, as
you gather up the last spoonful of froth from your cappuccino at Hudsons in the
Gardens. “Better be quick”, your friend might say, “before they glass it
in”.

Robins Galore!
Robin Central, by all means. We have previously
noted the curious provenance of ‘Finch Central’. (Archive for 13 May
2010, if anyone is
interested)

[canberrabirds] ANBG: Robins Galore!
Today at lunchtime in the ANBG a visit to the gully that
includes the rainforest in its lower parts yielded no fewer than 4 species of
robins.
At the edge of the rainforest Eastern Yellow (4) , Pink
(1), Rose (3) and a little higher located by song Scarlet (1)
Robin.
Could we have a new Robin Central?
