Lathams snipe has been confirmed.

Which Snipe?

A Latham's Snipe would be unusual, only on the basis of time of year (most waders have some that stay through the year, I don't know about that one).

A Painted Snipe would be exciting to have here but they are not a migrant and could turn up anywhere, no reason. Why not North Watson Wetland?

A friend who knows birds and thus would not be mistaken has asked "what is a snipe doing in the sedge beds at North Watson Wetland last Friday morning (apart from being very cold)?"

I have provided an incidental record form for completion.
