Start getting worried now. I suspect they are
looking for a place to set up a territory. By springtime they will have
settled in, built up confidence and will prevent other hollow/roof nesting
species including Eastern and Crimson Rosellas, Kookaburras, Galahs, Superb
Parrots, Treecreepers and Red-rumped Parrots from nesting. The territory of
a pair of Indian Mynas appears to be have a 50m to 100m radius. These are my
assumptions from previous experience and haven't all been
tested/proven.
If they remain in the area I suggest you start
feeding them. I use dry cat pellets and put it out to where you think they
can see it. Currawongs will probably find the food and get most of it
but that doesn't matter. It will attract the mynas and embolden
them. Once you have them feeding get a trap and remove
them.
Trapping them appears to be very successful. I
trapped about 40to50 in my area 3 to 4 years ago and apart from 1 calling for a
short while about 5months ago I have not had any here for about
2years.
