Diamond Firetails at Cooleman Ridge

OK, not exactly an unusual bird at Cooleman Ridge in the last couple of years, but it was great to see a flock of around 20 of these beautiful finches hanging around. Maybe Diamond Firetail numbers will continue as they have for the past 3 or 4 years, hanging around for autumn and winter (although I missed winter last year). Almost about half the flock seemed to be juveniles of varying plumages.

Also, a Grey Currawong was heard (unusual for the Ridge), along with a very suspicious Brown Falcon that looked at first glance like a Black. The day was rounded out with Dusky Woodswallows, Brown Quail, Grey Butcherbird and lots of Black-faced Cuckoo-Shrikes and Welcome Swallows playing in the late afternoon light.
