The Final Koel?

Over at my mother-in-law's place in Scullin this afternoon, I could hear what I suspected was a juvenile Koel calling persistently. I found it perched in a large cotoneaster at the end of the street, pecking at the berries in between squawks. It was later kind enough to perch for several minutes right outside my mother-in-law's lounge room window, giving us all a very clear view of its striking plumage in the late afternoon sun. Can't help wondering whether it's constant calling will avail it in any way (I saw no sign of parents, adoptive or otherwise) and what it's chances are of hooking up with any of its kin at this late stage.
