I would have thought the dark one (on the right) was one of the chicks.
Check the brown tinges on wing feathers.
That still does not explain the dark abdomen, though.
But it does explain why it was not feeding the others.

Hard to say - I wasn't there, so don't know if it flew in, as if to deliver food.
