Years
ago Peter Davison, Alison Rowell & Felix Schlager worked on a team that
investigated and made safety recommendations on this issue. They were a good
little unit until disbanded, mainly by Air Vice Marshall Alan Heggen, who I
later worked with at DVA (so that is how I know that part of the story). They
produced annual reports for the CAA (or its predecessor). Their focus was
Australia wide and I assume included Canberra but Canberra did not feature
strongly in their concern (not many incidents here). In I think 1990 I also
went through their years of data as was available at the time and provided a
summary and discussion on that (about 20 pages at a guess). My approach was to
resort the data by bird groupings and look at likely habitat uses for those
birds. I still have that if you are interested. I am writing this quickly from
my now slipping memory of my work on the issue, without going back to check on
the actual data.
These
data appear that they would be in addition to what you quote, unless those
reports are referenced therein.
There
is a lot of studies of this issue outside Australia.

Thinking
about the location of the WTEs I saw this morning in relation to the Canberra
Airport runway, I wondered whether there were any records of bird strikes
involving aircraft and WTE locally.
Some googling turned up the following
that may be of interest to some list members as it updates information from an
earlier COG chatline query/discussion in 2002/2007 ("Bird strikes at Canberra
Airport", see http://bioacoustics.cse.unsw.edu.au/archives/html/canberrabirds/2007-01/msg00217.html).
The short answer re WTE and Canberra planes is no, tho they have been involved
in strikes in most other states (see Table 10, page 29 in the ATSB report
below).
Apparently there are at least two earlier reports giving some
Canberra Airport bird strike data
1. For the period from 1969 to
1987- see ACT Parks and Conservation (1994). Jerrabomberra Wetlands
Nature Reserve, Management Plan 1994. ACT Parks and Conservation Service,
Canberra.
2. For the period 2002-2006, see Barnett, G et
al (2010).Planning the Sustainable Urban Renewal of East Lake, East Lake
Wetland Interface Study. Task 5, Final Report, 13 April 2010, http://www.csiro.au/files/files/pvwi.pdf
The most recent, and apparently very comprehensive, report covers the
period 2002-2009 (and is available online, see below):
Australian
Transport Safety Bureau (2010). Australian aviation wildlife strike
statistics: Bird and animal strikes 2002 to 2009. ATSB TRANSPORT SAFETY
REPORT, Aviation Research and Analysis Report, AR-2009-064. Canberra, Australian
Transport Safety Bureau. http://www.atsb.gov.au/media/1574235/ar2009064.pdf
Some
idea of the detail in its reporting is seen from this part of its
