Koels

Koels everywhere start to get scarce soon after the New Year as shown in the attached GBS Chart.  

NB: the data are plotted according to a sequential week number where the week beginning 3 July is week 1.  This avoids the series being split by the sorting rules of EXCEL but  the NEW Calendar year starts with Week 27 not the usual (for GBS Year) week 1.

I wonder to what extent the Koels are under-reported in later weeks of their time here if they go a bit quieter?  This thought was stimulated by Jack's earlier comment about the silence of the Campbell Park Channel-billed Cuckoo.

One was repeatedly giving the well known call round 7 am from the Cassia Pl area Rivett (where it also was calling before Xmas), and 15-30 minutes later another briefly gave both this and the “wirra wirra” call from the Chapman shops/Rene St area (well over a km away).  They were also recorded from these places during the week, often giving the wirra wirra call.
