Hi Margaret,
 
I'd say your ID is correct. They are a difficult to ID set of birds and most of the clues come from behaviour and calls. However the distinctive (of Pipit) little black streak on the face (chin) and the fairly slim beak are clear on your photos.

I understand the Australasian pipit is a very common bird, but this is the first one I have photographed, providing it IS a pipit and not a skylark or bushlark or suchlark.  Coppin’s crossing this morning.
