Hi Chris and Damien, Thank you very much for that information! That is one of my banded birds born on the ANU campus 19th Dec last year. Combination as you said light blue over black over silver metal on the right leg. Google maps tells me the distance travelled is nearly 11kms which is a huge distance to travel for a such a small bird! It is very likely that the thornbill is a female as previous work has shown that females generally disperse farther from their natal territories than males. I would be very interested to know if the bird has settled within your garden or if it is just flying through? Again, thank you for letting me know.
