A couple of small updates WRT Wednesday Walk for January 19 2010

The basic arrangements as outlined in the following message still apply.  However I have received a few useful bits of feedback that may assist folk.

1. It was pointed out to me that there are two intersections of Kelly Rd and the Monaro Highway.  We are going to the one that is approximately 2km from the ACT border.  The second one is a lot further down the highway.
2. Jack Holland - the originator of this area as a birding venue - unfortunately can't join us.  However he has advised that his practice was to start with a prowl around close to the meeting point and to then drive a couple of kms down Kelly Rd and do a second prowl there.  I have GPS reading for the spots.
3. A couple of people have pointed out that the yellow box is blooming (IMHO patchily) and that Regent Honeyeaters have been seen in this general area recently.  There might also be some blossom on Amyema miquelii (Box mistletoe) which might have other interesting visitors.

Kelly Rd is easy to find.  Head down the Monaro Highway towards Cooma, passing Royalla on the left and the Williamsdale Service station on the right.  2 kilometres later you leave the ACT and a further 2 kilometres on the turnoff to Kelly Rd is on the left.

I believe Kambah Village shops is a convenient place for those travelling from Canberra to meet for car-pooling.  For those coming from the east of Canberra I will be leaving the Spotlight car park in Queanbeyan at 8:15 and going down Old Cooma Rd to Williamsdale.
