Darters in Yarralumla? Well sort of.
While paddling along the eastern bank of Weston Park LBG this afternoon I came
across a Darter nest attended by adult male and female birds, containing at
least 3 chicks. There was another disused nest close by in the same
willow.
About 50 metres away from that was a Purple
Swamphen nest on a floating log tucked in under the willows, adult bird sitting
with 3 or 4 small chicks. It has probably done well to survive the recent
deluge and subsequent floods.
Also seen were Seagulls nesting on 3 vessels in
Yarralumla Bay.
Cheers
