Dear All,

This morning in Umbagong Park at around 9.00 am I disturbed a button-quail on the path ahead of me. It ran infoirnt of me for 20 or so metres and then stopped and continued to forage for a short while at the edge of the path before disappearing into the long grass. The views that I had were clear and I noted a bluish/grey bill, pale (whitish) eye and rusty/rufous all down the chest from the chin to the belly; the legs were a dull colour but I did not get an exact tone. After getting home and consulting Pizzey and Knight I concluded that the bird was a male Red-chested Button Quail. I saw the bird on the path between the car park off Florey drive and the sewerage-venting chimney about 300 metres to the SE.

Regards

Peter Christian

PS Apologies for the late posting but my email account has been playing-up for much of the daty.
