Thank you to all those who responded to my queries. 

1.  Black kite - this was unanimous.  A first for me too, since I hadn’t even heard of a black kite.  Very exciting!

2.  Most called it a brown goshawk, with one suggesting, on account of its pale colour, it could be a hybrid with a grey goshawk.

3.  Whistling kite got the nod, with one suggestion it could be a little eagle.  Since the calls of whistling kites could be readily heard, and I later saw a pair in a nearby tree, I guess whistling kite was the right one.

 

I have one small regret.  I really spoiled a series of shots of an aerial “dog” fight between two different raptors, on account of having unknowingly turned a knob on the camera whilst walking along.  But then, if you take time to check all of your settings all of the time, you might not get the shots at all.
