I hung around at Norgrove this morning waiting to go for a waddle with a friend. I couldn't find any of the speciality crakes (with the amount of water around I suspect they'd need SCUBA gear) but there seemed to be good numbers of greenfinches andgoldfnches. As we ran past the official swan feeding area there were 38 magpies bumming bread off some swan-feeders. That is the biggest flock I have seen in the urban area. I do hope that, having learnt from the swans how to scrounge bread, the magpies don't pass swooping skills on to the swans! Martin |
