Roger,

 

It is an immature Spotted (-Turtle) Dove. It is a feral bird and unlikely to be an aviary escapee that is rapidly expanding its range on the coast. Like the Common (Indian) Myna it is another unwanted pest that will compete with our native species and should be destroyed on sight. If it does somehow manage to die, if possible please let me know and I will come and get it for the CSIRO museum. We do not as yet have specimens from the local area.

Could somebody identify this pigeon for me, please?

I presume it is an escapee; is the owner likely to be interested?
