Peter,
It seems to me - since they are not always there - that the
adults and the cygnets must on occasion leave the pond and, presumably, head
over to the Nerang Pool area in Commonwealth Park. My windows to their
activities are extremely brief.
The remaining cygnet looks fine to me - certainly doesn't
look malnourished (there is plenty of weed in the pond), it is growing well, and
behaving normally (other than being in such an unlikely
location...)

I've been wondering whether they have enough food
there. Early last week I noticed the adults were not there and one cygnet
was trying to clinb out. I thought the adults had gone somewhere else to
feed to leave the local veg for the cygnets but they have been back every
day since. Its a location where nobody stops to feed swans and perhaps the
rangers should be asked to move the remaining cygnet over to the lake where
the parents can take them where there is some food.
Harvey, if you go there again soon
could you have a look to see if it's malnourished as I don't go that way much
now.
