One of the two
cygnets on the pond in the middle of the circle at the junction of Parkes Way
and Coranderrk Street died some time earlier this week. The two adults and the
remaining cygnet, now about 1/3 grown, are still there most mornings when I
pass.
I'm pretty sure both
cygnets were there on Monday but I only saw 1 on Tuesday. I went at lunchtime
yesterday to check and discovered the body of the dead cygnet floating in the
green scummy surface weeds. Neither parent nor sibling showed any interest in
the body. I wonder if was just a bit too cold for it?
