As it was sunny today I set off on a route from Hoskinstown to the Captains Flat Road continuing to the Bungendore turn off at Briars-Sharrow Road and turning onto the Plains Road back to Hoskinstown Village.
My target birds were Hooded Robin (not impossible), Southern Whiteface and Diamond Firetail (both possible).
I sighted a SW-f and heard a DF as I approached the sharp corner about 2kms out of Hoskinstown. Despite looking in many suitable locations I didn't manage a HR.
However I noted 37 bird species on the planned route. Not bad in 1hr 15mins when I was really concentrating on the Hooded Robin.
Other interesting birds were
Flame Robin
5 Aust. Shelduck
Tree Martin
Australian Pipit
Grey Teal
approx. 200 Little Raven
Dusky Moorhen

Back at Quailrise I saw an additional 9 species
incl. Mistletoebird
& Speckled Warbler

Cheers Julienne
