These species have been raised in recent messages on this group. Brush Cuckoo is not reported very often at all in the GBS. The latest (in terms of season) report over the 28 years of the Survey has been in week 14 (beginning 2 April) and of the 1st 14 weeks of the year 3 have zero reports 5 have 1 report, 4 have 2 and there are single weeks in which 3 or 5 reports (weeks 2 and 1 respectively) have been made. So it would be very unusual indeed. WRT Olive-backed Oriole I have attached a graph showing the aggregate (over the 28 years) number of birds shown in each week over the first half of the year. (The same impression would be given by adjusting for number of active sites per week so I kept it simple.) There is only 1 week (24) in which the species has never been reported although after late April the reports are rather sparse. In terms of GBS years the reports are bimodal (ie peaks in the first few years of the GBS and the more recent years with very few reports between years 7 and 27). Conversations on last week's Wednesday Walk suggested that a few orioles had been observed around the area in recent weeks. Martin Attachment:
