Dear Geoffrey (Pls refer my comments on to
your Committee).
I have held off commenting until now, in the
hope that you might realise the apparent error in your "draft".
Alas, my forbearance has its
limits.
I am concerned that your Bluebell is not the
ACT Floral Emblem (Wahlenbergia gloriosa).
That species is a much darker blue than
yours appears to be.
I recall this because, by accident, (more or
less) I sat in on the meeting when the Hon Michael Hodgman QC chose that plant
as the ACT Floral Emblem.
I recall that he was impressed with the name
"Royal Bluebell" and its colour "royal blue".
The other options put before the Minister
included something like a Ragwort or Fleabane.
So the name appealed (greatly) to the
Minister, whose Royalist tendencies were well known, even in those gloriously
pre-Rebublican days of Federal rule of the ACT.
(Be still my beating heart!)
You will find suitable images to
correct your apparent error, in the linked website, courtesy of

As this is obviously going to be a formal
postage stamp issue, the Australia Post Legal team can surely handle the
necessary copyright issues.
