I've been down in Leeton most of the past month, for family reasons, but took myself out to Fivebough recently - didn't spot any brolgas (there had been 7 recently) - but those contemplating a trip down this way might be interested to know that a very large amount of water is currently being put into the Swamp, so later in the year it should be really good. I've never seen so much water there - had to wade through a couple of inches at various places on the paths through the swamp, and its still going in according to Mike Shultz. So anyone contemplating a vist to the Birdfair in Sept should find it very worthwhile to get out to Fivebough.  Pleasing to see that virtually every farm dam between Canberra and Leeton is full for the first time in many years. saw a couple of black-shouldered kites along the way yesterday, but not a single kestrel, which is most unusual.
