Peter My immediate answer to your question is yes. I have attached a graph showing the values of A (Abundance ie average number of birds per site week)) and F (Frequency ie % of sites in which the species is reported) for the 28 years of the GBS. Eyeballing the graphs shows pretty clear evidence of a rise in more recent years. I have also shown a 4th order polynomial trend line for both series which smooths out the bumps: it is clearly a significant relationship for A and what I would term an evident, but not statistically significant realtionship for F. regards Martin On Wed, Mar 31, 2010 at 10:51 AM, Peter Ormay <> wrote:
