Wednesday walk March 17

As foreshadowed the next Wednesday walk will be in the Southern part of Mulligans Flat NP.  It was agreed at the last walk that we would enter through the gate off Horse park Drive, crossing the drain as indicated in the attached image.  I am advised that the drain has now been bridged so it is no longer necessary to have a high clearance vehicle to get across.  The broad plan of the walk will be to go along the Southern boundary fence so that we can check if the Banded Lapwings arestill in the designated spot.  Inter alia we'll also be able to check the big dam - which should have some water in it  and hopefully some waterbirds), and the woodland that has been stocked with Brown Treecreepers,  (If anyone has the email contact for the Treecreeper researcher could they pass it to me beforehand.)

Note that if the rain continues some places to which we are likely to be visiting are probably going to be damp (or worse)  so I suggest wearing shoes that you don't mind getting wet.

Looking forward, April would be a month for a longer expedition and I am wondering about a repeat of the trip David McDonald led in November to the TSRs around Bungedore.  This may give some insight into honeyeater movements through that neck of the woods.  For discussion on the 17th.
