This morning on the eastern upper slopes of Mt Ainslie a sudden and very quiet, fast moving bird wave crossed my path: it included 1 Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater (SCH), in the company of 2 White-eared Honeyeaters, a young Fan-tailed Cuckoo, several Golden Whistlers, and 2 Leaden Flycatchers. I tried to follow the honeyeaters, but they did not hang around (apart from a "resident" White-eared H.) and I didn't get a second chance to see the SCH. A small party of Red Wattlebirds, appearing a little later,  seemed to be in a similar hurry. The approaching rain may have had something to do with the movement of the birds.
