Masses of wild fennel in flower at the moment, thickets of it 2m high and all going to waste.    A reference to ‘wild fennel’ is compulsory on the menu of any decent restaurant.  Very useful for porchetta stuffing, for example, not to mention using the bulb for asafoetida  -  and as a herbal remedy it fixes just about everything.  Apart from bees it’s attracting all kinds of insects.  I can’t tell you what these ones are but perhaps someone can.
