I suspect the masked lapwings that inhabit Norgrove Park have reared a chick, unless they keep their juvenile feathers for more than one season.

 

Also at Norgrove Park this morning, two little pied cormorants were contesting feeding/perching rights for the pond.  As soon as Intruder would land on the pond or a roosting post, Occupier would descend upon him and send him off.  However, Intruder was persistent, and time and time again returned from the lake to try to take possession of even a small corner of the pond.  But Occupier would not have a bar of it.  I saw fish jumping in the pond, so no wonder Occupier is determined to keep it for himself.
