Further to discussion some time ago concerning the apparent increase in grey butcherbirds in the ACT, I saw an adult feeding a dependent young on Farrer Ridge this morning.  A few weeks ago, on Callum Brae, I also encountered 3 or 4 grey butcher birds in an apparent family group, among which were a couple of immatures.

How long does it take for the brown feathers to turn black/grey?

I don’t know whether they have a habit of breeding in the ACT or not, so I have no idea whether this comment is of any significance either.
