In todays Canberra Times (p. 11) , following the fall of a large branch a week ago, the very tall Eucalyptus beside the tennis courts in Corroboree Park is to be cut down next week due to public safety concerns.

This tree is currently the site of Hobbys nesting in an old Ravens nest near the top of the tree (clearly visible from Patterson St). They were observed mating on 17 October 2009, and have been occupying the nest, and using the tree for eating kills etc, ever since. With incubation at c. 30 days, I assume there may be nestlings now. A temporary stay of execution on the tree at least until fledging is completed I would hope is not beyond TAMs?

Does anyone know have contact details for Maxine Cooper, the Commissioner for Sustainability and Environment, to whom I could send a nesting diary and photos of the birds?
