The ANPS Wednesday Walkers went to the Southern part of Mulligans Flat today.  A reasonable number of birds were explorng the Reserve in the heat, but the only really noteworthy ones seen were a pair of Superb Parrots muttering at each other in a Yellow Box adjacent to the Banded Lapwing Viewing Spot.  Perhaps the parrots were looking for the lapwings - they may from their elevated perch have had better luck than I did.

Of more interest was the news form other members of the group:
  • Apparently the brown treecreepers have been released in the Reserve.  I am extraordinarily surprised that the only indication of this event on this chatline was an early notice in August requesting assistance with the project. Apparently radio-tracking of some description is now going on.
  • Australian King-parrots were seen copulating in a garden in Aranda.
  • Koels were reported from Wamboin and Urila, as being regular in previous years.  A pity we can't put in 3rd party records.
