I took myself to Warks Rd this morning in a (fruitless as usual) search for a Cicadabird.  It seems that Blundells Creek Rd has been considerably smoothed out, but I'm not sure if this is a deliberate action or just a side effect of the increased traffic due to the closure of Warks Rd to the North of the intersection.

The road was full of birdsong: I guess enjoying the cool respite after yesterday.  The most interesting sightings/hearings were:
  • a juvenile Eastern Yellow Robin - see image -  being fed by a parent.
  • at least 2 Rose Robins callng loudly and often, and
  • about a dozen White-naped Honeyeaters fussing loudlyaround a clump of bark hanging off a eucalypt.  I wondered if there was something of an owlish nature in there but couldn't get a look inside the tangle.
Getting back to the lowlands I wandered to the Swamp to see wht the spoonbills were up to.  In summary, not much.  4 hanging out in the lower part of the tree and one feeding over behind the central log.  Perhaps the earlier activities reported by Margaret had tired them out.  A pair of Australian White Ibis appeared to be checking out the real estate on the Upper Left.  Some Black-tailed Native Hens were also evident wandering through the legs of the cattle.
