I have been overseas for 6 months but since my return 3 weeks ago I have twice flushed single Painted Button-Quails in the woodland on Stirling Ridge, Yarralumla. These are the first sightings for at least the last 3 years. I believe they breed irregularly there; some summers, I have had repeated sightings and other summers, none. There are many foxes in the area, and no doubt feral cats.
