The walk today went to Alison Hone Reserve, on the Crookwell Rd North of Goulburn (and thus out of the COG AOI).  However given the reationship between COG and the Gouburn birding group I have put this up for info.

The aim of going to the Reserve was to try to find the beardless Bearded Orchid for which the Reserve was created.  We didn't find it but there was a good array of flowering plants (including several other orchids).  There was also a good range of bush birds present and many of them were in fine voice.  Nothing unusual however.

Having a little spare time and enrgywe went to check the Reserve to the North of Pejar Dam.  The dam is now back to about 75% capacity (as opposed to 1% a short while back)..  As a consequence there is a good range of water birds here with the highlights being at least 10 Great Crested Grebes - in full breeding plumage - and a Freckled Duck.  Well worth a visit if in that area.
