Hi Julian

A fine list of grassland birds there, very good seeing both of the songlarks, Brown Songlark isn’t at all common in Canberra.

Brown Falcons are breeding residents in the ACT so there are always a few around, but are not so common around the city. When I am working at Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve I often see them as there is a resident pair in the southern part of the reserve. Jerrabomberra Wetlands is another fairly reliable place to see them.

cheers

Steve

Saw some interesting thing at Finch Central.

Pippit, rufus & brown songlarks, skylarks, double barred finch, and in particular a brown falcon. all these (though rather sad perhaps) are new species to me in the wild. Have there been many records of the Brown Falcon in Canberra this year?

also saw dusky woodswallows, and a pair of red rumped parrots.

Julian
