Thank you for the dozen
responses I have received to the below. All are of interest. It is
of course about perceptions, but most things are. I shall summarise the
results after Friday next week, not giving names (except bird names).
More input would be
welcome. The issue seems to me to go to the heart of the stated purpose
of this forum. David says he doesn’t know the composition of the
240-odd members of this group, but I had surmised Canberra residents must
number at least 100. Perhaps not.
Your participation in the
Blitz this weekend might prompt some thoughts. GD

Subject: Survey
For a little survey I am conducting, I would be grateful if
each contributor could tell me the most significant or striking change in
Canberra bird life they have noticed since observing birds in the Canberra
area.
-
Define ‘significant or striking’ as you
wish (I appreciate they are not quite the same)
-
Nomination might relate to one species or a group
-
I need one ‘change’ but give up to three if
you like
-
If it relates to a waterbird, please also give a
non-waterbird change
-
Give period of observing if you wish; please do so if
less than 2 years
-
Impressions are acceptable; count-based conclusions
also welcome
-
Please reply to me. I shall collate results for
general information
-
Please reply within 2 weeks. I shall repeat this
request after one week.
