Hi All

1. In recent days I have seen Black Swan, Australian Grebe and Musk Duck carrying young  on their back while swimming.
The swans hold the record at four, but I have also seen a grebe and a Musk Duck carrying two young each. The grebe was not only swimming but diving with young under its wing. A swan carried a cygnet perhaps 10 metres while walking on dry ground.
Are there any other local species, presumably they would be waterbirds, that do this ?

2. As mentioned previously on the chat line there is currently a pair of Musk Duck on the West Belconnen Pond.
    The behaviour of the male is atypical in as much as while it would appear to be sexually mature
                                                                               (an observation based on the under bill lobe )
     it does not spend much, if any, of its times tearing around the pond displaying.
     The two birds spend much time within 5 metres of each other moving around the pool together;
                                                                                        behaving much as a pair of swan would.
     Has anybody seen this particular male bird display?
