This is a really typical perch and posture for them. As distinct from Peregrine Falcons that I think don't perch so conspicuously most of the time. The Hobbies are clearly arriving back in Canberra this year again, right on usual time. As well as other observers, I also had one over my house last week.

Perhaps making up for the loss of its perching tree at Corroboree Park(?), I noticed this Hobby perched on the large aerial ontop of the Rex Hotel at Northbourne Ave at about 11.30 this morning.
