"I have a query about magpie attacks - but not on humans :)
We were fascinated on the weekend to watch a pair of magpie larks building a mud nest in a tree in our backyard. Sadly, when they had got it about halfway done, a pair of magpies came and tore the nest apart, despite protests from the magpie lark pair. The magpies even came back the next day to remove the last bits of the nest from the branch.
Was this just territorial rivalry or what was going on? The magpies are not nesting in that tree or anywhere nearby that we have spotted.
Any information or speculation would be welcome.
