Hi all,
Obviously lots of Woodswallow activity
recently....
On Sunday afternoon, probably about 5.30 pm, I was in
the garden and looked up on hearing the high-pitched chipping of
woodswallows just in time to see a tight-knit flock of about 35 birds heading
east, quite high up. I didn't have binoculars with me and they were gone almost
as soon as I was aware of them. The only impression I was left with was the
alternate dark/silver flashing of wing beats.
I became acutely aware of my limitations in recognising
the different woodswallow calls, my fairly mediocre eyesight, and my poor
knowledge of woodswallow behaviour generally.
Any one care to give an opinion on which species they
might have been on such minimal evidence? And no I didn't see darker bodies, or
tail notches or anything else that might help...
any comments welcome.
